Water Pitcher

Such a simple thing, and yet it screams out,
“This person is a cherished, respected
guest, a professional friend here at our
behest, a paying customer, or a
speaker on the dais, someone whom we
want to impress.” Is that so much to ask?
I’m not saying endless money and fame,
but enough so that at least a few key
people have heard my name, so that artists
of all stripes that I admire will maybe
feel the same when we meet, so that I can
finally be on the talent sheet, not
awkwardly standing off to the side of
the stage or screen, working security.
