Microphone

As if anything we have to say is
so important as to need recording,
amplification, any distortion in
general. What we say is what we say,
and there is little that can change or take
it away. Words, once spoken, reverberate
through the dark places of the universe,
traverse the stars, can be picked up by the
speaker feedback in some extra-solar
karaoke bar, so that when two strange
beings sing “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling”
light years apart, the universe knows that
they are, urges them to sing from the heart.

the speaker, circle in its orbit,
evade his forceful spit, his promises
    he will not keep
