Sometimes, when I am asked, I can sense
the weighing and measuring in the question.
The question presupposes the answer; the
assumption is that my response will render
the enquirer “off the hook,” because when I
am asked how much? I say quite a bit. When
I am asked how often? I smirk and respond
how many hours in a day? And when I am
asked what kind? I answer whatever I could
get my hands on, and this is exactly the point
of the question. We hear what we want to hear.
And what we hear is I’m not as bad as that.
