All Poems Are Love Poems

Even poems about nature or travel.
Especially poems about nature or travel.
Poems about insects are about love,
poems about boats or roads or fence posts
are about love. Poems about turning
corners and finding an old friend
are about love. Poems about music
are always about love, especially
when they include trumpets, violins,
or piccolos. Poems about dead
butterflies, poems about dead
sea captains, poems about dead
space between two former lovers: love.
Poems about love are usually about love,

though almost always something else as well.
Poems about fruit are about sex
and love. Poems about winter
are about death and love. Poems about
poetry are about the seeming
trivialities of life, and poetry in
particular, that cause the poet to
constantly question the futility
of art in general and the meaning
of existence on a grand scale, though
anyone willing to tackle such broad
concepts on a daily basis is probably
incredibly occupied with constructing
definitions of the self; so, love.
